Why Dublin Tiler
Three things every client gets, every job.
Dublin's tiling market is full of one-person operators working off word of mouth, and large building firms that subcontract tiling out to whoever is free that week. Dublin Tiler sits between the two: a dedicated tiling specialist with the systems and guarantee of a proper company, but the hands-on attention of someone who still fits tiles personally on every job. That means you get a fixed written quote rather than a verbal estimate, a guarantee you can actually point to if something goes wrong, and a tiler who's accountable for the finish - not a subcontractor three steps removed from whoever you originally spoke to.
Precision Layout
Every job is set out and dry-laid before a single tile is fixed - true lines, even grout joints, no awkward cuts at the door. We measure twice and plan the pattern from the most visible point in the room outward, so the eye lands on full tiles, not slivers.
Workmanship Guarantee
Workmanship backed in writing. If a tile lifts or grout fails through poor fitting, we come back and fix it, free of charge.
On Time, On Quote
The price you're quoted is the price you pay. We schedule tightly and keep you posted at every stage - no vanishing tradesmen, no surprise add-ons once the job is underway.
What We Do
Tiling services for every room and every site.
From a single bathroom refit to a full commercial fit-out, Dublin Tiler covers residential and commercial tiling across the city. Below is the full range of work we take on, along with what's actually involved in each, so you know what to expect before you call.
If you're not sure which category your job falls under, that's normal - most projects touch more than one. A kitchen renovation might need a splashback, a floor, and a downstairs toilet retiled at the same time; a shop fit-out might need both a tiled entrance and a tiled staff washroom. Send us the details of what you're planning and we'll quote the whole job as one project rather than asking you to book separate trades for each part of it.
Kitchen Tiling
Splashbacks, floors and feature walls fitted around worktops, sockets and appliances with millimetre-accurate cuts. We work in ceramic, porcelain, marble and mosaic, and we always tile after the kitchen units go in but before the worktop, so the splashback sits flush and the cuts around extractor hoods and sockets land exactly where they should.
Bathroom Tiling
Full bathroom and wet room tiling with proper waterproofing, known as tanking, underneath, every time - no shortcuts. This covers full retiles, walk-in showers, niche and bench detailing, and en suite refits where space is tight and every cut has to count.
Commercial Tiling
Offices, retail units, restaurants and hospitality fit-outs, scheduled around your trading hours wherever possible. We've tiled reception floors, restaurant kitchens and dining areas, and shopfront entrances, often working overnight or in phased sections to keep a business open while the job runs.
Wall Tiling
Feature walls, mosaics and large-format porcelain panels for a sharp, contemporary finish. This is often the highest-impact work in a room, and the most visible if it's done badly, so we pay particular attention to edge returns, mitred corners and pattern alignment.
Floor Tiling
Porcelain, ceramic and natural stone floors, including underfloor heating-ready installs. Floor tiling carries different demands to walls - correct falls, expansion gaps, and movement joints all matter, particularly over screed or heated floors that expand and contract with temperature.
Natural Stone & Marble
Marble, granite and natural stone tiling for premium finishes, sealed correctly to prevent staining and etching. Natural stone behaves differently to ceramic and porcelain - it's porous, it can vary tile to tile, and it needs the right sealant applied at the right stage, which is where a lot of DIY and inexperienced installs go wrong.
Repairs, Regrouting & Restoration
Cracked tile replacement, full regrouting, grout colour refreshes, and tile sealing to bring tired tiling back to life. We can usually match and replace individual tiles without redoing a whole floor, and a regrout alone can transform a room that's structurally fine but looking dated.
Outdoor, Patio & Balcony Tiling
Frost-resistant porcelain for patios and balconies, laid with the correct falls for drainage. Outdoor tiling in an Irish climate needs the right slip rating and frost rating, or it cracks and lifts within a winter or two - something cheaper indoor-rated tile simply can't handle.
Tile Consultation & Layout Design
On-site advice on tile selection, pattern layout and material choice before you commit to an order. If you're not sure whether to go large-format or mosaic, herringbone or straight-lay, we'll talk it through against your room, your budget and how the space is actually used.
The Process
How a job with us actually runs.
Four steps, start to finish - the same sequence on every job, residential or commercial. Knowing what to expect upfront is half the reason clients tell us the process felt easy.
Free site survey
We visit, measure accurately and talk through tile choice, layout and any structural considerations, including whatever prep work the existing surface might need.
Fixed written quote
You get a clear, itemised quote within one working day - no vague estimates, no hidden extras later, and no pressure to decide on the spot.
Prep, tank & set out
Surfaces are levelled and prepped, wet areas tanked with a waterproof membrane, and the full layout dry-laid and agreed with you before anything is fixed permanently.
Fit, grout & finish
Tiles are fixed, grouted and sealed, the site is cleaned daily and on completion, and we walk the finished job with you before calling it done.
About Dublin Tiler
Twelve years of straight lines and straight talk.
Dublin Tiler started on building sites around the city, fitting tiles for other people's companies - and noticing how often "good enough" was the standard.
After a decade working as a tiler for larger contractors across Dublin, our founder set up Dublin Tiler with one rule: every job gets set out and dry-laid before anything is fixed permanently. It sounds obvious. It's also the single biggest reason most tiling jobs go wrong - rushed setting-out leads to uneven grout lines, awkward cuts at doorways, and patterns that don't read right from the door in.
Today, Dublin Tiler is a small, focused crew covering kitchen, bathroom, wall and commercial tiling across the city - from one-room refits in Drumcondra to full commercial fit-outs in the city centre. We've kept the business small on purpose, because the quality of a tiling job comes down to the hands that actually fit it, not how big the company behind it is. When you call, you're talking to the same person who'll be on your job, not a call centre passing your number down a chain of subcontractors.
We work across every part of Dublin city and county, for homeowners renovating a single bathroom, landlords refreshing a rental between tenants, builders who need a tiling subcontractor they can rely on to turn up, and commercial clients fitting out an office, café or shop. The jobs vary in size and budget, but the standard we hold ourselves to doesn't change.
Our mission is straightforward: every tile we fix should be flat, sealed and exactly where it should be for years to come. That's the standard we quote to, and the standard we guarantee in writing, on every single job regardless of size.
That standard looks slightly different depending on the job. A residential bathroom refit is personal - it's the room a family uses every morning, and the client is usually living in the house while we work, so we plan around that: dust sheets, daily clean-downs, and a clear finish date agreed up front. A commercial fit-out is judged differently - on how fast it can go in without disrupting trade, and how well the floor stands up to daily footfall, trolleys, spills and cleaning chemicals. We quote and schedule each type of job on its own terms rather than treating every site the same way.
We've also built up real material knowledge over twelve years, not just installation technique. Porcelain and ceramic behave predictably and are forgiving to cut and fit, which is why they cover most of our kitchen and bathroom work. Natural stone - marble, limestone, travertine - is a different proposition: it's porous, it varies from tile to tile even within the same batch, and it needs sealing at the right point in the process or it will stain and etch within months. Large-format tiles, now common in modern kitchens and commercial floors, need a flatter substrate and a different adhesive technique than smaller traditional tiles, or they crack under the slightest deflection in the floor beneath them. Knowing which material suits which application, and fitting it the way that material actually demands, is most of what separates a tiling job that lasts from one that doesn't.
We dry-lay before we fix
Most tilers cut as they go. We lay out the full pattern dry first, so you can see and approve it before anything is permanent.
Tanking is never optional
Every wet room and shower gets a proper waterproof membrane underneath - not a "yes if you want to pay extra" add-on.
Fixed-price written quotes
We measure on site, not over the phone, so the number we give you is the number you'll actually pay.
Written workmanship guarantee
If our fitting fails, we return and fix it. In writing, on every job.
Set out first, always
We dry-lay every room before fixing a tile, so cuts land where they should and patterns read correctly from the door.
Proper waterproofing
Every wet area gets tanked before tiling. It's invisible once finished - and it's the difference between a bathroom that lasts and one that doesn't.
One quote, one price
We measure on site and quote in writing. No surprise extras once the job's underway.
Client Reviews
Straight talk, straight tiles.
"Retiled our kitchen splashback and downstairs bathroom in the same week. Cuts around the sockets were spot on, and they left the place spotless every evening."
"Used them for our café fit-out on Camden Street. Worked around our opening hours, finished on the date they quoted, and the floor's held up under daily footfall since."
"Got three quotes for our wet room. Dublin Tiler explained the tanking process properly when the other two didn't even mention it. No leaks two years on."

FAQ
Common questions about tiling in Dublin.
The questions we hear most often from homeowners, landlords and commercial clients before they book a job.
It depends on room size, tile choice and prep work needed, so we don't quote blind over the phone. We give a free, fixed-price quote after a short site visit, usually within one working day, broken down clearly so you can see exactly what you're paying for.
Yes. We split our work between homeowners and landlords, and commercial clients including offices, retail units and restaurants. Commercial jobs can be scheduled outside trading hours on request, and we're used to working around a live business.
A standard bathroom retile, including tanking, usually takes 3 to 5 working days depending on size and the extent of any prep or plumbing work needed first. A larger wet room or an en suite with extensive niche detailing can run a little longer.
Either works. Most clients buy their own tiles so they get exactly what they want, and we're happy to advise on quantity, layout and suitability beforehand. We can also source tiles on request if you'd prefer us to handle that side of things.
Tanking is a waterproof membrane applied to walls and floors before tiling, beneath the tile and grout line. In a shower or wet room it's essential - grout alone isn't waterproof, and skipping this step is the most common cause of leaks and damp in Dublin bathrooms.
Usually, yes. We can replace individual cracked tiles and regrout sections, provided we can source a close match or you have spare tiles from the original job. It's often far cheaper than people expect.
Yes, every job comes with a written workmanship guarantee. If our fitting fails, we return and fix it at no charge - covering both the tiling itself and the waterproofing beneath it.
As a general rule, we recommend waiting 24 hours before light use and 48 to 72 hours before exposing the tiling to water. Grout and adhesive need time to cure fully, and rushing this is one of the most common causes of early tile failure. We'll give you specific guidance based on the products used on your job before we leave the site.
